RESTORATIVE YOGA with Caroline Raffel RYT200
Mondays, 8:30 - 9:30 am - March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Restorative yoga is the centering of the breath and body - aligning the physical, mental, and spiritual by practicing stillness or gentle movement for extended periods of time. Props assist in helping to hold fully supported postures for several minutes. It may feel healing and somewhat quieting. One balances work and relaxation in each posture.
The practice is to calm the body and mind and to be wholly present. To note each inhale, each pause, and each exhale, as it is with mindful meditation. After about three breaths the healthy mind wanders off. Bringing the mind back to the now and placing awareness on each breath takes patience, discipline and effort.
Notice the body after caring for it. Some postures help the heart, some assist the lungs and others benefit the entire body. All are nourishing and life-enhancing when practiced regularly. *All levels are welcome.
